‎As the internet continues to reshape everyday life, church leaders are raising concerns about its impact on spiritual living.

Speaking in Ondo City, the State Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Ondo State South, Pastor Stephen Buraimoh, warned Christians to guard against internet-fuelled immorality and remain spiritually vigilant in what he described as the end times. Oluwaseyi Elizabeth Jimoh reports.

‎Believers have been urged to remain spiritually alert and guard their hearts against the subtle influence of worldliness, as immoral content proliferating through the internet poses increasing dangers to Christians in the end times.

‎

‎The State Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Ondo State South, Pastor Stephen Buraimoh, gave the admonition while delivering a sermon titled “The Hands and the Heart of Heaven-Bound Saints” during the church’s monthly combined service held at Pele, Ondo City.

‎

‎Drawing from Psalm 24:3–4, Pastor Buraimoh explained that the “hands” and the “heart” are metaphorical expressions describing both outward conduct and inward purity.

‎

‎According to the cleric, clean hands represent a believer’s outward lifestyle and righteous conduct, while a pure heart reflects the source of one’s affections and thoughts, both of which must remain holy for anyone seeking eternal life.

‎

‎ “We are living in the end times, and every believer has a responsibility to remain vigilant,” he said, adding that genuine holiness enables Christians to “live at peace with all men.”

‎

‎Pastor Buriamoh warned that technological advancement has made sinful temptations more accessible than ever before, particularly through the internet.

‎Referencing the biblical account of King David’s fall into adultery, he remarked:

‎ “Today, you don’t have to look through a window for Uriah’s wife. The proliferation of evil through videos and immoral content on the internet means temptation can come directly to your device. If you are not careful, you may be lost.”

‎

‎He cautioned believers against pornography, masturbation, and other forms of sexual immorality, describing them as widespread manifestations of iniquity that threaten the spiritual lives of Christians.

‎

‎The cleric urged church members to consciously guard  “the windows of their hearts,” resisting every avenue through which ungodliness seeks to gain access.

‎PURITY REMAINS ESSENTIAL FOR HEAVEN-BOUND SAINTS

‎Emphasising the importance of perseverance in righteousness, Pastor Buraimoh cited Job 17:9  “The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.”

‎He stressed that spiritual growth and endurance depend on maintaining both inward purity and outward holiness despite increasing societal pressures.

‎Speaking on biblical prophecy, Pastor Buraimoh said current global events should remind Christians that the prophecies concerning the last days are unfolding before the world’s eyes.

‎

‎He referenced earthquakes, conflicts and wars in the Middle East, and the increasing deployment of drones and missile technology resulting in widespread destruction as indicators consistent with biblical descriptions of the end times.

‎

‎The overseer urged believers to reject spiritual apathy and negligence, calling on them to remain consecrated in heart and conduct while faithfully serving God.

‎‎The sermon succinctly reflected the words of Henry Smith, who noted that “Holy men have kept the sessions at home, and made their hearts the foreman of the jury, and examined themselves as we examine others.

‎

The fear of the Lord stood at the door of their souls to examine every thought before it went in, and at the door of their lips, to examine every word before it went out, whereby they escaped a thousand sins which we commit, as though we had no other work.”
