FEDPOLEL RECTOR COMMENDS REGISTRAR GABRIEL AWE AS REGISTRY STAFF RECEIVE EXCELLENCE AWARDS AT 2ND RETREAT

BY OLUWASEYI ELIZABETH JIMOH

‎

‎The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji (FEDPOLEL), Ondo State, Dr Ademola Ebeloku, has commended the outgoing Registrar, Mr Gabriel Awe, for his commitment to digital transformation and institutional development as Registry staff were honoured for outstanding performance at the Polytechnic’s 2nd Registry Retreat.

‎

‎Dr Ebeloku gave the commendation during the Polytechnic’s 2nd Registry Retreat, themed “Enhancing Digital Skills and Professional Excellence in Registry Practice for Polytechnic Education in the 21st Century.”

‎

‎The retreat provided an opportunity for the institution to celebrate Awe’s leadership and contributions to the Registry while examining the changing demands of modern Registry administration.

‎

‎The Rector, who described Awe as a supportive partner since he assumed office in 2023, said the outgoing Registrar had made significant contributions to the development of administrative processes at the Polytechnic.

‎

‎According to him, although the occasion marked the final Registry Annual Lecture to be presided over by Awe before his retirement, the initiative he championed would continue as part of the institution’s activities.

‎

‎Dr Ebeloku also commended Awe for introducing the e-appraisal system for the Annual Appraisal Evaluation Exercise, noting that the initiative had reduced the burden and cost associated with producing appraisal forms manually.

‎

‎REGISTRY STAFF HONOUR OUTGOING REGISTRAR

‎Members of the Registry Department also used the occasion to honour Awe, presenting him with a gift in appreciation of his leadership, service and advocacy for digital transformation.

‎

‎The gift, described by members of the organising committee as “something digital in nature,” was presented as a symbolic recognition of Awe’s efforts to move Registry operations towards a more technology-driven system.

‎

‎In a light-hearted tribute, the Registry staff urged the outgoing Registrar to remain “digitalised” even after leaving office, reflecting his strong advocacy for digitalisation throughout his tenure.

‎SIX REGISTRY STAFF RECEIVE EXCELLENCE AWARDS

‎

‎The retreat also featured the presentation of awards to outstanding Registry staff in recognition of their diligence, commitment, innovation and professional competence.

‎

‎The six staff members honoured were:

‎1. Mr Damilola Akintunde— Performance Award of Excellence.

‎2. Mr Festus Boluwatife— Outstanding Head of Unit Award of Excellence.

‎3. Mr Ayodeji Olugboyega— Outstanding Innovative Award of Excellence.

‎4.Mrs Effiong Ekpenyong— Outstanding Confidential Secretary Award of Excellence.

‎5.Mr Kehinde Daramola— Outstanding Executive Officer Award of Excellence.

‎6.Miss Taiwo Mercy Akintunde— Outstanding Clerical Officer Award of Excellence.

‎

‎The awards, initiated by the outgoing Registrar, were designed not only to recognise exceptional performance but also to encourage other members of staff to uphold high standards of professionalism, dedication and service.

‎Awe, while appreciating the dignitaries and Registry staff, said recognising outstanding personnel was important in promoting a culture of excellence within the Registry.

‎

‎AWE ADVOCATES DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

‎

‎Earlier in his address, Awe advocated a deliberate transition from manual records management to more efficient digital systems, stressing the need for institutions to embrace technology in modern Registry administration.

‎

‎He described digitalisation as an ongoing process and recalled that the transition to digital systems had been part of his vision when he assumed office.

‎

‎The outgoing Registrar stressed that sustainable digital transformation required management support, mentorship, adequate budgeting, continuous staff training and deliberate investment in technology.

‎

‎The retreat therefore served as both a platform for professional development and an opportunity to examine the future of Registry practice in polytechnic education.

‎

‎Discussions at the event focused on digital competence, professional excellence, records management, ethics and emerging demands in Registry administration.

‎

‎As the retreat ended, the commendation from the Rector, recognition of outstanding staff and presentation of a symbolic gift combined to mark a significant moment for Awe as he prepares to bow out of office.

‎

‎The occasion ultimately celebrated his tenure against the backdrop of an increasingly digital administrative environment and highlighted the importance of innovation, professionalism and continuous development in modern Registry practice.
